what i really need to get my ass in gear and start writing every day is discipline, accountability and motivation
the time when i was writing the most was when i was taking a creative writing class that required me to present a new piece, out loud, in front of the whole class, every week
we’d be assigned a short work of fiction to read first, and then we were supposed to write our own short piece inspired or otherwise influenced by what we’d read — stylistically, thematically, however
it helped a ton with my writing and with my public speaking skills, and best of all, it forced me to just CREATE WORK which is really what i need to be doing right now
i’m not proud of all of what i created, and like with all schoolwork sometimes i’d half-ass it, but it let me experiment with many different narrative voices, styles, and subjects
so what i’m wondering is, would anybody be interested in starting up something like this? a group where we all get together and read the same piece and then present our own work inspired by the piece? we can hash out length/formats/requirements/whatever, as well as who curates the pieces we read — if we get enough people we can even rotate who chooses the work each week — but recreating the format of this class would definitely be a major help to get me writing again
any takers? who’d be up for this?
whether we want to present our pieces by reading them aloud to each other over video chat or whatever is something we can discuss; it helped build my confidence but i know it can be really, really scary, so that’s really just an option at the moment, don’t let the prospect of that happening scare you away
for the daytime crew; i’d really like to do this
now my stomach hurts more for voicing my feeeelings

The Loft Cinema is doing another Ghibli fest all month long, starting tomorrow with Only Yesterday. I’m a little bit really excited. Also at the end they’re doing a cosplay party/contest. So. Think about that.
